Education ReEnvisioned BOCES utilizes the state definition of a gifted student and this definition shall serve as the basis for implementing all gifted program elements as described below.
The state definition of gifted and talented is as follows:
Gifted students include gifted students with disabilities (i.e., twice-exceptional) and students with exceptional abilities or potential from all socioeconomic and ethnic, cultural populations. Gifted students are capable of high performance, exceptional production, or exceptional learning behavior under any or a combination of these areas of giftedness:
- General Intellectual Ability
- Specific Academic Aptitudes
- Mathematics
- Reading
- Science
- Social Studies
- World Languages
- Writing
- Specific Talent Aptitudes
- Creative or Productive Thinking
- Dance
- Leadership
- Music
- Performing Arts (theater, speech, and debate)
- Visual Arts
- Psychomotor
